LAURINBURG — Julian Starr Monroe, 21, was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, larceny after a breaking and entering and four counts of obtaining property by false pretense, according to a sheriff’s report. Monroe was allegedly involved in a home invasion and burglary. He was placed under a $75,000 secured bond.

LAURINBURG — A pair of Fayetteville women were arrested on Sunday after allegedly stealing money from two men with whom they shared a room at Pine Acres Lodge, one of which pursued them in the nude to the Nic’s Pic Kwik at Hasty Road and U.S. 401 South, according to police. Deena Washington, 27, and Asia Tamara Carter, 26, were each charged with felonious larceny, conspiracy to commit larceny, and receiving stolen goods. They were each placed under $7,500 secured bond.

LAURINBURG — Deonta Matthews, 23, of Gibson was arrested on Sunday after being stopped for a traffic violation, according to police. Matthews was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and placed under a $3,500 secured bond.

LAURINBURG — Destiny McDonald, 16, a student at Scotland High School, was arrested on Friday and charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct after attacking another student in the school cafeteria, according to police. McDonald was placed under a $2,000 secured bond.

Shots fired

LAURINBURG — A resident of the 700 block of Nichols Street reported that someone shot at her home around 10:15 p.m. on Friday, according to police. Though two women and a 6-year-old were inside at the time, none were injured.


LAURINBURG — A resident of Everett Street reported on Sunday that someone stole a pressure washer that had been chained under a carport outside the home, according to police.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Pitt Street reported the larceny of a bicycle on Sunday, according to police.
