Arrests

LAURINBURG — Jody Singletary, 36, of Laurel Hill, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly shoplifting at Walmart, according to police. He was also wanted for involvement with break-ins on Jan. 18 at Home Credit on U.S. 401 and on Feb. 2 and Feb. 17 at the city public works department on Hall Street.

Singletary was charged with three counts of breaking and entering, three counts of larceny after breaking and entering, one count of injury to personal property, and one count of larceny. He was placed under a $52,000 secured bond.

LAURINBURG — Ashley Odom, 29, of Gibson was arrested on Saturday and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and two outstanding trespassing warrants, according to police. Earlier that day, Odom allegedly entered a room at Pine Acres Lodge and threatened the occupants with a gun and knife. Odom was placed under a $40,000 secured bond. Other suspects are still at large.

Shots fired

LAURINBURG — A resident of Charlotte Street reported that a passenger in a dark-colored Ford Explorer shot at a home around 4:30 a.m., while two people were inside, according to police.

Vehicle chase

LAURINBURG — James Warren Sowyer, Jr., 41, of Hamlet was arrested on Saturday after leading Laurinburg police on a high-speed chase through three counties, according to police.

Sowyer’s vehicle was observed by police around 3:30 a.m. near Atkinson and Church streets, and officers attempted to stop him at the intersection of Atkinson and McLean streets. Sowyer did not stop, beginning a chase that led through Hoke and Robeson counties and reached speeds over 100 mph.

Sowyer lost control of his vehicle on Old Red Springs Road in Robeson County and was arrested and charged with felonious speeding to elude arrest and driving while intoxicated. He was placed under a $5,000 secured bond.

Vehicle theft

LAURINBURG — A resident of Hammond Drive reported that someone stole a 2007 Chrysler 300 from outside his home on Monday, according to police.

Break-ins

LAURINBURG — Authorities are seeking Eugene Johnson, 23, of Fairmont Street, according to police. Johnson allegedly broke in to a Kinston Street apartment with a firearm and police have obtained warrants for breaking and entering to incite fear.

LAURINBURG — A resident of South Pine Villa Drive reported that someone broke into a vehicle and stole a handgun on Saturday, according to police.

Missing person

LAURINBURG — Zebian Emmanuel Bullard, 18, was reported missing on Saturday, according to police. He was last seen at an apartment at 1056 Turnpike Road.
