Submission guidelines: All church news submissions must be typed or hand written in block letters and delivered to The Laurinburg Exchange office by Wednesday at noon for inclusion in Friday’s edition. E-mail submissions are also accepted (aoverfelt@civitasmedia.com). Please refrain from using cursive or any non-standard fonts or colors and include “church news” in the subject line of e-mail submissions.


Events occurring outside of Scotland County (with the exception of Maxton) will not be included. Please use full names and include time and date information.

Today


Faith Joy Outreach Ministry of Laurinburg will host a Pastor Aid Service at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Albert McLeod of Vision Life Ministry of Latta, S.C. The public is invited.


St. Pauls United Methodist Church will hold a bazaar from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Turkey and barbecue plates will be served.


Saturday


Higher Dimension Ministries will open its food bank from 10 a.m. to noon at 18501 Marston Road in Laurel Hill. State-issued identification is required.


Wagram Emanuel Holiness Church will host a gospel sing, featuring the Pierce Family and Pierce Choir at 6:30 p.m. Chicken dumplings and chicken bog will be sold beginning at 4 p.m. and immediately following the singing. Plates will be $5.


St. John Women’s Auxiliary will hold a meeting at 10 a.m. in the class room of St. John Educational Building at 8601 Peele Chapel Road in Laurel Hill.


Charity Outreach Holiness Church will hold its Harvest Day, beginning at 10 a.m. Collard sandwiches, barbecue, fried chicken and hot dogs will be served and a children’s bounce house will be available.


Sunday


Cool Spring United Methodist Church will celebrate its gospel choir’s anniversary at 3 p.m. Choir groups are invited to perform at the event. Interested persons should call Dorothy Johnson at 910-276-7239.


Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its church anniversary at 3:00 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jeremy Bethea, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Mullins. The male choir will perform. The public is invited.


Faith Joy Outreach Ministry of Laurinburg will host an appreciation service for John Davis at 4 p.m. The speaker will be Maryln Bridges from St. Pauls.


Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will hold its 36th annual Choir Day at 6 p.m. All five choirs will come together for the service. The event is open to the public. The church is located at 501 South John’s Road.


Solid Rock Baptist Church will celebrate its choir anniversary at 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend.


Nov. 14


Sneads Grove Church will hold its ingathering from 4-6:30 p.m. Turkey and dressing or barbecue plates will be available for $7 each. Cakes, pies and crafts will also be for sale.


Nov. 16


Joseph Temple A.M.E. Zion Church will host a Lay Brunch at 10 a.m. The cost is $10 and proceeds go towards the church’s Lay Department. The church is located at 1134 S. Caledonia Road.


Maxton P.H. Church will host a corn hole tournament at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Registration fee for a two-person team is $30. A grand prize of $100 will be awarded to the winning team. Fish plates and hot dogs will be available for lunch and homemade baked goods will be for sale. Faith Joy Outreach Ministry of Laurinburg will host a Pastor Aid Service at 4 p.m. The speaker will be Pastor Purcell of Shekinah Faith Church. The public is invited.


Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church will host a Men’s Day Program at 11 a.m. The speaker will be Dr. Fred M. McQueen of Hamlet.


The St. John Women’s Auxillary will hold its annual Women’s Day program at 3 p.m. The speaker will be President Rev. Katie Deberry. Misic will be presented by the men’s choir. Every church part of the St. John’s association is asked to pay its $100 dues. All ladies are asked to wear white.


Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church will host Sherlene Alford, who will be presenting her first sermon at 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.


Nov. 23


Montpelier Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Baked goods and crafts will be available and a soup luncheon will be served.


Graham Temple will hold a community Thanksgiving feast from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited.


Nov. 24


Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its first anniversary at 3:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.


Dec. 7


Gibson United Methodist Church will hold a gospel singing and fundraiser for Ettie Cottingham Grooms, who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. A plate sale, baked goods sale and raffle will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A gospel sing will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. A barbecue plate with baked beans and cole slaw will be available for $6. Hot dogs will be on sale for $1 and vegetable soup can be purchased for $3.


Dec. 8


Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church will host an Advent Festival featuring handmade gifts, food and singing of Christmas carols.
