E-mail submissions are also accepted (aoverfelt@civitasmedia.com). Please refrain from using cursive or any non-standard fonts or colors and include “church news” in the subject line of e-mail submissions.


Events occurring outside of Scotland County (with the exception of Maxton) will not be included. Please use full names and include time and date information.

Today


St. Mary’s Holiness Church will host Min. Ricky McDuffie & The Family in concert at 7 p.m. The church is in Hamlet.


Franklin Chapel AME Zion will be selling chicken and barbecue plates. Eat in or pick up. The event will go from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. The church is located at 1103 S Caledonia Road in Laurinburg.


Saturday


Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church will hold a program titled “Let’s go back to the old time way,” at 3 p.m. Guests will be pastor Jesse McClendon and the Goodwin Chapel AME Zion Church congregation. Hymnists from area churches will perform.


Vineyard Of Life Ministries will be having a harvest day sale from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. The sale will offer homemade crafts, cakes, and pies. Barbecue plates or a barbecue and chicken plate will be for sale for $7 each. For information, contact Becky Lucas at 910-318-5546. The church is located at 1020 N. Main St. in Laurinburg.


Sunday


Timmons Grove Baptist Church will celebrate the third anniversary of Rev. Donald L. Covington at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The speaker will be superintendent Garcia Morman. The event is open to the public.


Livingston Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will have a special celebration at 3 p.m. The church family will celebrate the church’s anniversary and honor their deacons and trustees. Pastor Charles Nabors and the congregation of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church of Taylortown, N.C. will be special guests at the event.


Progressive Missionary Baptist Church will hold its 15th Gospel Anniversary at 3 p.m. For information, call Thelma Cagle at 910-217-0270.


Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church will observe its annual Homecoming. Pastor J.W. Gorham will deliver the morning message and lunch will be served immediately after. The afternoon service will begin at 3 p.m. and feature various singers.

Community Missionary Baptist Church will present a conference entitled “Endowed with Power Through Prayer” at 7 p.m. nightly. The church is located at 9161 Tartan Road in Laurinburg. There will be a prayer breakfast Saturday at 9 a.m. For information call 910-318-4043.


Monday-Nov. 8


Laurinburg Emmanuel Holiness Church will host a revival at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Speaking will be the Rev. Mike Switzer of Richland Va.


Nov. 7


Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church will hold its ingathering from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. Barbecue pork, barbecue chicken, and chicken salad plates will be served for $7 each. Crafts, cakes and other goods are also available. For information, call Philip McRae at 910-277-6597.


Nov. 8


Faith Joy Outreach Ministry of Laurinburg will host a Pastor Aid Service at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Albert McLeod of Vision Life Ministry of Latta, S.C. The public is invited.


Nov. 10


Cool Spring United Methodist Church will celebrate its gospel choir’s anniversary at 3 p.m. Choir groups are invited to perform at the event. Interested persons should call Dorothy Johnson at 910-276-7239.


Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its church anniversary at 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jeremy Bethea, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Mullins. The male choir will perform.


Nov. 16


Joseph Temple A.M.E. Zion Church will host a Lay Brunch at 10 a.m. The cost is $10 and proceeds go towards the church’s Lay Department. The church is located at 1134 S. Caledonia Road.


Maxton P.H. Church will host a corn hole tournament at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Registration fee for a two-person team is $30. A grand prize of $100 will be awarded to the winning team. Fish plates and hot dogs will be available for lunch and homemade baked goods will be for sale. Faith Joy Outreach Ministry of Laurinburg will host a Pastor Aid Service at 4 p.m. The speaker will be Pastor Purcell of Shekinah Faith Church. The public is invited.

Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church will host an Advent Festival featuring handmade gifts, food and singing of Christmas carols.
