LAURINBURG — Woody’s Printing and Copy Shop has merged with an office supply store.
Woody’s, previously located at 114 S. Main St. merged with Bill Evans Company to expand the business . Woody’s made the move to the new location — at 200 Johns Road — in October.
”It’s eventually going to lead to a retirement, but we’re making sure it is a smooth transition,” said owner Woody Pierce. “I will retire once we get everything worked out smoothly.”
Pierce relocated the long-time business with the help of his wife, Joyce and employees Donna Faircloth and Woody Maultsby.
“We’ve been in the current shop for 19 years,” he said. “I’ve been in the printing business since I was a kid.”
Pierce started the business after remodeling the original building on Main Street and turned it into a printing and office supplies shop.
“I’m looking forward to the move so I can retire,” he said. “I’ve been in the printing business since I was 11 years old and I’m certainly well passed retirement age.”
Pierce said he hopes his old customers will also make the move to the new business.
“We appreciate all of our customers that we’ve had throughout the years and all the many friends that we’ve made,” he said. “They will continue to get the same great service with the new company that they did with us.”
The co-owners of Bill Evans Company, John Campbell and Doug Morton, say they are excited about the expansion.
“We own the Trophy World, Bill Evans and now we’re merging with Woody’s,” Campbell said. “Woody is looking to retire and it gave us the chance to expand our business.”
The goal is to reach potential clients beyond the county.
“Woody’s did more printing and we did more office supplies, so we thought the merge would benefit everybody,” he said. “We’re trying to let everyone know, especially Woody’s customers, that everything is going to be the same, the service the prices, everything.”
