Bomb threat

LAURINBURG — A Dollar General store in College Plaza Shopping Center was one of several businesses in North Carolina to receive a bomb threat on Saturday afternoon, according to Laurinburg police.

The bomb was reported to be in the parking lot, said Police Capt. Terry Chavis, but a search of the lot and the store turned up nothing suspicious. Neighboring Moore County reported four bomb threats at various stores on Saturday, according to WRAL, and Chavis said Maxton also received one.

Chavis said Homeland Security and the State Bureau of Investigation were looking into the calls, which appeared to be made from the same number.
