Arrests


LAURINBURG — Tierra Blackwell, 19, of 900 Charlotte St. Apt. 11B, and James Tyner, 29, of 15441 Rhonda St., were each placed in the Scotland County jail under a $1,500 bond after they were found to be smoking marijuana in the presence of a toddler and newborn, according to a police report.


Officers responded to Charlotte Street apartment complex after receiving calls that Tyner, who had been banned from the property, was seen entering Blackwell’s home, according to the report. Blackwell gave police consent to search the residence, according to Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms, during which officers smelled marijuana.


Blackwell was charged with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and maintaining a drug dwelling. Tyner was charged with two counts of assault on a child under 12, misdemeanor trespassing and drug possession.


The children are aged 1 year and 3 weeks. Sessoms said the Scotland County Department of Social Services was contacted.


LAUREL HILL — Scott Kurtis Madsen, 21, of 16826 Tabernacle Road, was charged Saturday with felonious fraud and placed in the Scotland County jail without bond, according to a police report.


LAURINBURG — Donald Lee Hunt, of Plant Road, was cited for carrying a concealed weapon, a misdemeanor, after officers found a handgun inside his car while it was parked at Laurinburg Food Mart on Produce Market Road on Saturday, according to a police report.


Break-ins


LAURINBURG — Sharita Ford, of Morris Street, reported Monday that someone broke into her home and then rammed her vehicle as she attempted to drive away, causing $1,200 damage, according to a police report.


Ford reported that she pulled into her driveway to find a strange car parked there and approached her home just as someone was walking out of the back door. According to the report, she retreated to her vehicle and had started to drive away when the driver of the other vehicle got into their car and hit hers in the rear.


The assailant’s car is only identified as being black in color.


Armed robbery


LAURINBURG — Selena Pipkin, of Fernwood Drive, reported Sunday that a man she knows hit her across the face with a handgun and took her cell phone and cash, according to a police report.


Pipkin reported that she often gives the man rides in her car but does not know his real name.


Theft


LAURINBURG — Decil Deese, of East Church Street, reported Monday that someone broke a padlock and took a blue Yamaha motor scooter from his home, according to a police report. The scooter is valued at $700.
