LAURINBURG – Scotland County Health Department plans to reach out to the community to share its program and services.

The department’s Spring Outreach will be held March 23 at Bright Hopewell Baptist Church, 601 North Main St. in Laurinburg, from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The event will focus on the overall health and well-being of Scotland County residents through education, according to Kathie Cox, health department spokesperson.

Child safety related topics will include car seat safety, safe sleep, maternal and child health and family planning. Information will also be available on communicable diseases, environmental health and medication safety.

Community members will also have the opportunity to meet the health department’s new provider Dr. Lester Brigman, department staff and supporting partners: the Laurinburg Fire Department, Safe Kids Mid-Carolinas Region Coalition, Scotland County EMS, Scotland Cancer Treatment Center.

“We are super excited to offer an evening for family fun, laughter and education to promote healthy lifestyles and life changes,” said Kristen Patterson, Scotland County health director. “We want to help promote a healthier community.”

Door prizes, incentives, food and games will be available to participants.
