LAURINBURG — Timonte Wykwon Purvis, 18, of Gibson, was arrested Tuesday after leading authorities on a brief chase on a dirt bike, according to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.
Purvis was charged with breaking and entering, felony larceny, flee to elude arrest and resisting a public officer.
He is accused of taking a 1998 Suzuki dirt bike from the back of a truck in the Gibson area.
According to a report, a deputy got a call about a dirt bike on the roadway. The deputy attempted to stop the dirt bike, but the Purvis refused to stop and a chase ensued, the report said.
The report said Purvis eventually jumped off the bike and ran into the woods. A K-9 was able to track him and Purvis was captured a short time later.
Purvis was placed in the Scotland County Detention Center under a $37,500 secured bond.
The dirt bike was recovered and returned to the owner, according to the report.
