Laurel Hill man charged in shooting

LAURINBURG — A Laurel Hill man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with shooting Sunday on North Main Street that injured 41-year-old Lavester Chavis, according to police.

Quentin McCrimmon, 34, of Old Wire Road has been charged with felonious assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felonious possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharging a firearm in the city limits.

The victim was shot in the leg after reportedly attempting to break up a fight at a bar at 225 North Main Street. He was treated for his injuries and released from Scotland Memorial Hospital on Sunday.

McCrimmon was placed under a $125,000 secured bond. His past convictions include drug possession, according to his criminal record.
