LAURINBURG —Authorities have identified the bodies of two people killed in a house fire this past weekend.
The victims were identified as Robert Earl Jacobs, 45, and Susan Lineman Heartsell, 46, according to Capt. Mitchell Johnson of the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.
The autopsies show Jacobs and Heartsell died of smoke inhalation.
Johnson said the State Bureau of Investigation is still investigating and the cause and origin of the fire are still known.
“We will release further details as they are obtained.”
North Scotland and Wagram Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the residence at 19522 Blakely Road around 4:38 a.m. Saturday.
