LAUREL HILL — Wintry mix caused two separate accidents on the Old Hundred Bridge, west of Laurel Hill, Monday morning.
Emergency Management Director Roylin Hammond said the accidents — based on 911 call times — were only three minutes apart.
Hammond said the accidents happened on the bridge behind the CSX railroad crossing.
“It is notorious for freezing over when we have weather like this,” he said. Both accidents involved one car with the first call at 9:10 a.m. and the second at 9:13 a.m.
Hammond said one person was transferred to Scotland Memorial Hospital. He was not sure the extent of the injuries.
“Based on the nature of that accident, I think that’s why that person was transferred. One vehicle went over the guard rail and flipped over on it’s side.”
Department of Transportation treated the road after the accidents to prevent other wrecks on the bridge.
North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers responded to the accident but were not available for comment.
