LAURINBURG — A pair of Laurinburg teenagers was arrested after shooting into an East Vance Street party on Friday night, injuring three other minors.
Kenneth Maurice Quick, 16, of 12000 Pankeytown Road and Jonathan Taylor Martinez, 17, of 215 McGirts Bridge Road were both located by police about 20 minutes after the shooting, according to Laurinburg Police Department Assistant Chief Cliff Sessoms.
Police say that Quick walked by the home at 109 East Vance Street, where more than 20 people, mostly teenagers, were present around 9:15 p.m. Quick shot at the residence, striking three people who were standing outside of the house.
“This may be retaliation from an altercation that happened earlier in the week,” Sessoms said. “Fortunately no one was killed.”
The victims were 14 and 15. Police did not release their names due to their age. All three were treated for their injuries at Scotland Memorial Hospital and released on Friday night.
Officers located Quick and Martinez shortly after the incident. According to Sessoms, the suspects attempted to authorities on foot. The weapon used in the shooting, which had been reported to the Fayetteville Police Department as stolen, was also found in the area.
Quick was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm into occupied property, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of a stolen firearm, discharging a firearm in the city limits, and conspiracy. He was placed under a $200,000 secured bond.
Martinez was charged with conspiracy and accessory after the fact. He was placed under a $100,000 secured bond.
