LAURINBURG — Eugene Junior Johnson, 23, of 413 Third St., was arrested Saturday and charged with possession of firearm by a felon; discharging a firearm in the city limits; carrying a concealed weapon; driving with an open container; burning of personal property and vandalism, according to police. Johnson was arrested during a traffic stop on U.S. 401 after reports of gunfire in the Carolina Park area, police said. Johnson allegedly fired the shots, as well as set a fire that destroyed a 1992 Mitsubishi Galant, valued at $4,000.
He was placed in the Scotland County jail under a $76,000 bond.
LAURINBURG — Willie Columbus Graham Jr., 56, of 13300 Blues Farm Road, was arrested Friday and charged with larceny by employee, according to police. Graham allegedly took $25 while on duty as a cashier at Nic’s Pic Kwik No. 8. He was placed in the Scotland County jail under a $1,000 bond.
LAURINBURG — Blair Lemar McLaughlin, 21, of 6516 Brookstone Lane in Fayetteville, was arrested at the Clinton Inn on Saturday for possession of a firearm by a felon, according to police. He was placed in the Scotland County jail under a $5,000 bond, and a bond of $500 was added for an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on an unrelated charge.
Police said McLaughlin was arrested after police received reports of a “disturbance” at the motel and searched his room when they detected the odor of marijuana in the vicinity, finding a 9-mm handgun.
LAURINBURG — Someone set fire to the headliner of a 1999 Chevy Tahoe on Saturday while it was parked on Biggs Street, according to police.
LAURINBURG — A 2001 Ford Taurus was reportedly broken into while parked on the 100 block of Marcella Street on Saturday, according to police. Canned sodas and a key to the car were taken.
LAURINBURG — A gaming console, television and cash were reportedly stolen from a home on the 300 block of Wilson Street, according to police. Items taken were valued at $1,800.
LAURINBURG — A moped was reportedly stolen from the 300 block of Phritz Street on Sunday, according to police. The moped was valued at $1,500.
LAURINBURG — Someone cut the copper wire from an air-conditioning unit at Main Street Masters Barber Shop on Saturday, according to police, causing $200 damage.
