LAURINBURG — A Scotland County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer is recovering after being hit by a vehicle while on the job Tuesday, and is expected to return to work soon.
According to Captain Mitch Johnson, Lt. Ann Griffin was struck from the rear while directing traffic on Old Wire Road at Laurel Hill Elementary School on Tuesday morning.
“She is doing well, she has no major injuries,” he said. “She’s got a few bumps and bruises but she’s doing great.”
Griffin is the lieutenant over the sheriff’s school resource officers, serving both Carver and Spring Hill middle schools and the Scotland County elementary schools located outside of Laurinburg.
“She’ll be back at work shortly,” said Johnson.
The sheriff’s office did not have information about the driver involved, and reports were not available from the N.C. Highway Patrol.
