Laurinburg womancharged in break-in

LAURINBURG — Scotland County Sheriff’s arrested a Laurinburg woman after she broke into a residence and vehicle on N.C. 79 and stole a gun among other items.

Leslie Ann Carter, 31, of Laurinburg was arrested for the breaking and entering of a home between Laurinburg and Laurel Hill, according to a sheriff’s report.

The report said the crime occurred within the last month while the home owners were out of town. Several items, including a firearm, were taken from the home and from a vehicle that was secured in the yard of the home, according to a sheriff’s report.

Carter was charged with breaking and entering, larceny after break and entering, breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and of larceny of a firearm.

She received a $40,000 unsecured bond and has a court date set for today.
