LAURINBURG — Police are searching for a man who reportedly stole $3,000 worth of fragrances from Belk department store last week.

The incident occurred Thursday around 7:25 p.m. when a man walked into Belk on 1339 Scotland Crossing Dr., went behind the counter, grabbed as much cologne and perfume as he could, stuffed it in a duffel bag and exited the building, according to police.

It is unknown if anyone working in the store saw the man come in. He was caught on video surveillance, according to police.

Police say after the man robbed the store he entered an unknown color SUV and left the area.

The man is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, 150 pounds and he was wearing a black t-shirt and brown khaki shorts at the time of the incident.

“This may have occurred at other Belk Department Stores in North Carolina,” said Assistant Chief Cliff Sessoms. “The case is still under investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Laurinburg Police Department at 910-276-3211.
