Do you agree with the governor that North Carolina shouldn’t take in Syrian refugees?

“Yes, I agree because you don’t know who we’re going to bring into this country. It’s like bringing in a sack of bananas. You don’t know how many bad bananas you’re going to get. For the protection of this country, we need to watch who we’re bringing into it. There are so many innocent people dying. I am an American citizen and I didn’t come into this country easily. My family had to apply for me to come here (from the Bahamas). The governor is doing a good job not letting them come here.” — August Cherimond

“I disagree because I believe everybody needs a chance and America is the melting pot. There should be no reason why other people from other countries shouldn’t be allowed to come in. Everybody should really get along and work together. You don’t know the conditions that these people have gone through or what type of help they need. I think that it should go on for every country and whoever wants to come in should be welcome here. I really feel strongly that everybody should be given a chance.” — Eileen Morgan Cherimond

“I think if you’re going to let one group in then you should let them all in. I don’t think it’s right to say certain people can come, but no one else. I do not agree with him if he is saying one group can come. It should be all or nothing.” — Willie Monroe

“They should not let them in because there is really no telling as to why they are over here to start with and they are probably here already and we don’t even know it. The best thing to do is keep them out where they aren’t supposed to be and leave us alone.” — Barbara Clark
