HAMLET — In an effort to improve financial literacy for entrepreneurs starting or growing a business, the Small Business Center of Richmond Community College will be offering a free seminar called “Clueless About Accounting” from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Cole Auditorium.

Accounting consultant Semone Brisson will lead the free workshop, which is open to the public.

“Most people think you have to be good with numbers and detail oriented to understand accounting, but that is not the case,” said Brisson. “Financial and bookkeeping concepts are very easy to understand and have little to do with confusing math or intimidating terms.”

Accounting is the most essential and least understood part of small business management, according to Brisson, who created “Clueless About Accounting” for non-accountants in an effort to explain bookkeeping systems, financial statements, and “all the things your accountant and banker hope you understand when you walk through the door.”

Pre-registration for the seminar may be completed online at tiny.cc/sbcseminars; or via email or phone by contacting Small Business Center Director Deborah Hardison at [email protected] or 910-410-1687. Pre-registration is preferred but walk-ins are welcome.
