Pilots install new officers


LAURINBURG — The Scottish Pilot Club of Laurinburg installed new officers this week in a ceremony at the Downtown Club.

Officers are Barbara Mack, president; Terry Gallman, president-elect; Dorothy Tyson, vice president; Janice Davis, secretary; Jane Callahan, corresponding secretary; Diana Johnston, treasurer; Sylvia Nelson, lead director; Diana Johnston, director; Carol Meshaw, director and Debbie Quick, director.

Nancy Adcock installed the new officers and gave them Pilot International’s charge to “Do More, Care More and Be More.”

Brenda Grubs read the “Code of Ethics,” written by Pearl Sparks in 1926. The code continues to be the gold standard for Pilot International Clubs around the world.

Anchor, Fundraising, Leadership, Membership and Project Division coordinators reported on the accomplishments of the Scottish Pilot Club from this past year.

Retiring President Joyce Jewell received the President’s Pin for her enthusiastic leadership this past year. She was also presented a scrapbook. Special guests were former North Carolina District Governor and Laurinburg Pilot Club Member Sarah Logan; scholarship recipient Sommore Terry and her mother Umeko Terry-Leak and lifetime honorary member Heather Fields Adcock, also known as Scottie Bear, and her husband James.
