A Laurinburg man was arrested this week for a December shooting that left another man injured, according to police.

On Dec. 19, 2012, James Lucas, 29, was found lying on the doorstep of a Carver Street apartment having been shot once in the abdomen. Lucas was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital, transferred to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, and later released.

After investigation, police obtained a warrant on Adolphus Jackson, Jr., 33, of Dickson Street for his involvement in the incident. On Friday, officers located Jackson in a Lytch Street residence. Jackson was in possession of marijuana at the time of his arrest.

He was charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of assault by pointing a gun, and one count of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was placed in the Scotland County jail under an $80,000 bond.
