Scotland County Department of Public Health will begin giving flu vaccinations today.

Clinic hours will begin at 8 am through 11 am and 1 pm through 4 pm.

After today, vaccines will be available Mondays through Thursdays from 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends a yearly flu vaccine.

The county Health Department has varied formulations of the Influenza vaccine to offer this year. Flu Mist Intranasal is available for healthy persons age 2 to 49 years of age. Fluzone, high dose is available for adults 65 years and older. Fluzone Intradermal is available for persons 18 to 64 years of age. Fluzone Intramuscular is available for persons 3 years and up. The Health Department also has Fluzone preservative free vaccine for children 6 months to 35 months of age.

Scotland County Department of Public Health also has vaccine for children state supplied vaccine. Specific coverage criteria does apply to this vaccine.

Private pay vaccine is also available. If you have Medicare A & B, or Medicaid it will cover the cost of the vaccine as well as most insurance. For those who do not have insurance, call for vaccine cost.
