A 34-year-old Maxton man will serve 30 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to being part of an organization responsible for distributing more than 550 pounds of cocaine, according to a statement from the United States Attorney General’s Office.
Donald Scott Jr, was sentenced on Tuesday and will also serve five years of probation following his release, according to the statement.
Scott pleaded guilty on Nov. 3, 2011, to conspiring to distribute and possessing with the intent to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine, according to the statement.
Scott was involved in cocaine distribution from January 1999 to August 31, 2011, during which time law enforcement officers purchased cocaine from Scott on four occasions, according to the statement.
