The Scotland County Republican Women will hear perspectives on both the Republican and Democratic conventions this weekend from comedian Eric Golub.

The evening will begin at 6:45 p.m. Saturday with refreshments at the Scotland County Republican Headquarters, with Golub scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Golub is a Jewish conservative comedian whose blog, The Tygrrr Express, is syndicated by The Washington Times. He also writes for Big Hollywood, part of Andrew Breitbart’s network of conservative websites. His trilogy of books is entitled “Ideological Bigotry,” “Ideological Violence,” and “Ideological Idiocy.”

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Judaism and an MBA from the University of Southern California, and has worked as a stockbroker since 1994.

The Exchange reached Golub at the convention in Charlotte, but he was not able to be interviewed by presstime on Thursday.

According to his bio, Golub “likes his terrorists the way he likes his taxes…dead.” He also claims to have three fatwas against him: “One from a Palestinian group, one from the Daily Kos, and one from the National Organization for Women.”

In the past, Golub has introduced speakers such as Sarah Palin, an occasion that brought him widespread attention when he compared the left to Trig Palin, Palin’s Down’s Syndrome son.

“The left should love Sarah Palin,” he said. “She has a beautiful, adorable special needs child … For that reason alone, the left should worship Sarah Palin and adopt her as one of their own. Because the leftist haters are an entire political ideology of special needs children.”

Having attended the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte this week as well as the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Golub will offer the Scotland County Republican Women insights into both assemblies.

“He went to the Republican Convention and he’s at the Democratic Convention this week - he’s going to be speaking to other Republican groups in the state this week and next,” said Bonnie Schenck, the group’s president. “He was here and everybody liked him so well - from the Republican and conservative perspective he has it all together and tells it in a comical way. He’s just a very interesting person.”

In his blog prior to the Democratic National Convention, Golub questioned the individuals behind the speeches given at the event.

“The Republicans offered speakers based on the content of their character,” he wrote. “Some were Hispanic and some were black, but they all had actual life achievements. A look at the main Democratic speakers makes one ask very fair questions. If credentials are required to cover the convention, why are they not required to speak at the podium?”
