Scotland senior quarterback Storm Davis will no longer be part of the 2012 Fighting Scots.

Following Friday night’s rain-out against Seventy First, Davis opted to leave the team following reports that he was unhappy with a lack of playing time.

Heading into the season, Scotland head coach Richard Bailey had plans to incorporate the skill sets of both Davis and sophomore quarterback Jaylend Ratliffe into the offense. Davis was expected to be utilized in pure passing situations, while Ratliffe would use his athleticism to give the Scotland rushing attack an added dimension.

With the sudden departure of Davis, freshman Cross Holfert will likely be brought up to the varsity squad to give the quarterback depth chart an added boost.

While Bailey was adamant about handling the situation “in-house,” he also said that the Fighting Scots will continue with their season and not alter their offensive game plan.

“We’re an option oriented offense and Jaylend gives us the best chance to win,” Bailey said. “We’ll continue to play with the athletes we have on the team that want to be here.”

From what I have heard from Team Storm...is that the coaching staff told him and his Dad that he was the starter THEN said the only way you'll get playing time is IF Jaylend gets hurt! Because he has two colleges looking at him and if he wasn't gonna play his family was gonna transfer out to another school! I guess the ghost of Mark Barnes has return to the SHS sideline
