The 2012 Pete Hasty Memorial Golf Tournament is planned for next Wednesday at Scotch Meadows Country Club.
Proceeds from the event are expected to help the Cape Fear Council of the Boy Scouts of America, which includes Scotland, Robeson, and Hoke counties.
The tournament is in memory of John C. “Pete” Hasty, who served on the Board of the Cape Fear Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Hasty also served mayor of Maxton from 1968 to 1970. He was elected to the General Assembly, serving from 1983 to 1989.He was also a founding member of the Maxton Jaycees and served on both the Laurinburg/Maxton Airport commission and the Scotland Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees.
The event, which attracted 1oo golfers last year, raised about $13,000 in 2011.
“Thanks to the generous sponsorship of many area business leaders and individuals, golfers enjoyed a great day of golf and fellowship, with all proceeds benefiting the Boy Scouts of America,” organizers said.
The tournament co-chairs are Tab Broome, president of Scottish Food Systems and Guy McCook, president of Hasty Realty.
The entry fee is $60 per player , which includes green fees and cart, To register a team or individual, call Scotch Meadows Country Club Golf Shop at 276-0169. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first serve basis.
