Arrests


LAUREL HILL — Shawn Smith, 43, of 17543 Baileys Plantation Road, was arrested Sunday and charged with felonious breaking and entering, felonious larceny after breaking and entering and felonious vandalism, according to a sheriff’s report.


He was given a $5,000 unsecured bond.


LAURINBURG — Richard McNair, 42, of 1417 Hickory St., was arrested Friday and charged with two counts each of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon, according to Laurinburg Police. Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms said the charges stemmed from a Jan. 6 incident in which he pointed a butcher knife at then-girlfriend Devona Fulmore, 43, and another woman, Queonna Williams, 29, and demanded they hand over cash and a cell phone.


McNair was also served with outstanding warrants for failure to appear and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Sessoms said. He was jailed on a $41,200 secured bond.


Theft


LAURINBURG — Lachelle Marie Washington, of Gum Swamp Lake Road in Laurel Hill, reported Saturday that someone had taken a white Chevrolet Impala belonging to Enterprise Rent-A-Car on Atkinson Street from her home, according to a sheriff’s report. The car was valued at $10,000.


Fraud


LAURINBURG — Murphy USA reported Sunday that a customer had paid for merchandise with a counterfeit $5 bill, according to a police report. The clerk did not realize the bill was counterfeit until the customer had left, according to the report.
