Consider vacationing with the Chamber

July 1, 2014

It is that time of year when everyone seems to be taking vacations and spending time with their families. I love this time of year and just like most of you, I usually take a week to spend quality time with David, my husband. We use our week to celebrate our anniversary. Yes, I chose to be a June bride. At age 23, I didn’t think about the fact that my week is one of the busiest weeks of the summer, because it is the prime time for hotels to increase their prices anywhere I go. There are some things that life teaches you. Either way, we do enjoy getting away each year and spending our time together.

Maybe one getaway a year is not enough for you. In addition to a mid-year trip, perhaps you would like to end 2014 with another adventure and vacation. The Chamber of Commerce is offering a five-day trip to Long Beach, Calif. in December. The highlight of the trip will be to go to Pasadena for a behind-the-scenes look at the beautiful floats for the Tournament of Roses parade. There will be a special New Year’s Eve party and then on Jan. 1, the group will attend the Tournament of Roses Parade, which has been a New Year’s Day tradition since 1890. Prime seating will be available for our group, giving us the best way to enjoy the parade. We will also be treated to a special, private Legends in Concert show. This is a great opportunity to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience, as well as have some time to visit and learn about a part of the west coast.

When traveling with a group like this, there are several advantages. The travel group takes care of all of the planning and preparing for your adventure. All you need to do is pack and enjoy! In addition, there are special events you get to participate in that otherwise you might not have the opportunity to enjoy. Lastly, and my best reason for traveling with a group, is the friends you make on a trip like this. You come back knowing folks you might not ever be able to meet otherwise and sometimes, they may just turn out to be your new best friend. As a child I traveled a lot in groups like this with my great-aunt and those trips and the people I met were some of my best childhood memories.

As you are planning your summer, I hope you will consider making plans for your New Year’s as well. I hope to be able to take a big group to enjoy the awesome trip, which has been put together. If you would like more information sent to you, please call the Chamber of Commerce at 910-276-7420, or you can stop by and pick up the information or check out the information on our website at I hope to spend my New Year’s with you.
