To the editor:
In response to the article in the May 3 edition of the Laurinburg Exchange about me, Samuel N Cribb, first the DA did not request an investigation about this case, it was not a 6 month investigation. You’ve corrected the information about when Walter Rogers was appointed to the board of Equalization and Review.
I have never had a disagreement with Kirk McBride over lots on Academy Road, I appealed that to the board of Equalization and Review and they reduced the values from $8,500 to $7,800, by the way we just sold some of those lots for $7,500. I challenge McBride to show me the other large homes that he reduced because the county was using the wrong software. I’ve only found one other home that was reduced by McBride it was reduced $50,000. I guess as a favor. I have never appeared before the county commissioners but have talked to five of them on different days, by the way one commissioner asked me why I did not sue McBride. I told her he wasn’t costing me any money, why doesn’t the county sue him. The time I talked to the county manager and Mr. John Alford, Mr. Alford told the manager he got the county attorney to check out the tax cards that I showed him, but he didn’t, but sent me an updated letter saying the values were taken from the 2011 revaluations when they were taken from the appeal process. I never said the county was in violation of tax codes as quoted by Mr. Alford. He also said that he had covered every base which they have not. It’s a shame that this story came our so late that I could not respond before the election. I did take out a political ad in the paper. Where did they put it? On the back page of the sports section, while other ads were on page two or three of the front section. Anyone who wants to know about Kirk McBride go on the Internet and look him up and you will find out why he came from West Virginia and came to Scotland County. I wonder who in the county had the paper write this absurd story about me.
