Leaders to address community issues

Tonia Stephenson Chamber Chat

February 12, 2014

Do you ever find yourself thinking about your city and county and wonder how things are going and what is happening? Do you wonder what is going on with the recruiting of jobs and businesses for our area? Do you have questions you really want to ask, but maybe hadn’t found a good time to ask them?

The Laurinburg Exchange and WLNC do a great job reporting on our community, however, there are times you may have questions you would like ask. The Governmental Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Commerce is giving you an opportunity to come out and ask your questions of the staff leaders of our community. I hope you will join us on Feb. 27 at the Dulin Center on the campus of Scotland Health Care System for our “State of the Community” breakfast. This will be a time for you to hear directly from our County Manager, Kevin Patterson, our City Manager, Charles Nichols, and our Director of Economic Development, Greg Icard. Each of these gentlemen will be presenting updates and information about our community. At the end of the session, there will be a time for you to ask questions.

The breakfast will start at 7:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 8 a.m. There is a $5 charge for this event. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by calling the Chamber at 910-276-7420 or emailing Kaye Buie at

I look forward to hearing more about our community and hope you will join me. I know this will be a very informative event.

Tonia Stephenson is president of the Laurinburg/Scotland County Chamber of Commerce.
