Arrests


LAURINBURG — Michelle Lee Ledbetter, 41, of 17902 Lees Mill Road, was served with a warrant for larceny on Tuesday and arrested on McLean Street, according to a police report.


LAURINBURG — Peggy Smith, 52, and her husband Tony Smith, 58, of 1204 Lytch St., were arrested Tuesday around 1:10 p.m. for shoplifting at Piggly Wiggly, according to a police report. The Smiths were each charged with two counts of larceny and held under a $4,000 secured bond.


LAURINBURG — Joseph Byrd, 37, of 20261 Blakely Road, was arrested on Sunset Drive Tuesday and charged with obtaining property by false pretense, according to a police report. Byrd went to Walmart and had taken a cart of items that was already inside the store to customer service on Thursday and attempted to receive a refund for the items he never purchased. He was held under a $2,500 secured bond.


LAURINBURG — Richard Campbell, 50, of 15340 Bayfield Road in Laurel Hill, was served with an order for arrest Tuesday and charged with misdemeanor failure to appear in court for child support, according to a sheriff’s report. He was held under a $16,225 secured bond.


LAURINBURG — Tina Dunn, 32, and Charles Tyson, 48, of 19440 Corbitt Road in Laurel Hill, both received a criminal summons on Tuesday for a charge of misdemeanor second degree trespassing, according to a sheriff’s report. Neither were held under a bond.


LAURINBURG — Dale Russell, 46, of 8400 King David Road in Laurel Hill, was arrested Tuesday and charged with a misdemeanor assault on a female, according to a sheriff’s report. He received a written promise type bond.


Break-ins


LAURINBURG — Debra Ingram, of Fayetteville, reported on Tuesday that someone broke into a residence on McGirt’s Bridge Road and stole an air-conditioning unit and other assorted items worth about $420, according to a police report. The thief also caused about $425 damage to the residence and property.


Assault


LAURINBURG — It was reported Tuesday that a 12-year-old boy was playing basketball on Sunset Drive when someone shot him with a BB gun, according to a police report. The boy had a welt appear on his side and no description was given of the suspect who shot him.


LAUREL HILL — Jessie Locklear, of Sims Circle, reported Tuesday that an argument with his step father led to him being stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors, according to a sheriff’s report. His step father was not found at the scene when authorities arrived and Jessie was taken to the hospital but there was no damage caused to his internal organs. Investigators found a pair of scissors on the ground in the front yard of Locklear’s home and seized it as evidence.


Theft


LAURINBURG — Emma McInnis, of Shepherd Avenue, reported on Tuesday that someone stole jewelry from her home, according to a police report.


LAURINBURG — Bonnie Howard, of South Turnpike Road, reported Tuesday that someone stole a generator, valued at about $550, from her home, according to a sheriff’s report.
