RCC to offer free seminar for small business owners

Special to the exchange

January 17, 2014

HAMLET — The Small Business Center of Richmond Community College on Jan. 30 will host a seminar on how to drive website traffic and get customers to purchase products online.

“Driving Customers to Your Website & Getting Them to Buy” will be offered from from 9 a.m. to noon at the Cole Auditorium in Hamlet.

Business coach and social media trainer Martin Brossman will present the latest developments in search engine optimization — SEO — with simple, practical suggestions that a small business owner can easily apply to increase website traffic and help stimulate sales. Keyword tools and methods for web analytics that make a website more effective will be included in the discussion.

“Making a website successful is an ongoing process, thanks to the changes that crop up from the major search engines like Google,” Brossman said. “The recent Google update, called Hummingbird, has introduced a new way of approaching the idea of Internet search, and some of the old directives we were following are now obsolete.

“Semantic search is the term of the future, related to Google’s new voice-activated search option that lets you search by asking a question out loud,” Brossman added. “All of this knowledge can help the small business owner right now, just by observing some simple techniques that we will cover in this seminar.”

Registration for this free seminar may be done online at tiny.cc/sbcseminars; by email at sbc@richmondcc.edu or by phone at 910-410-1687.

Pre-registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. There is a $5 refreshment fee.
