Duo charged with Christmas eve theft

LAURINBURG — A Rowland man and Lumberton woman were arrested for stealing more than $3,000 worth of clothes at Belk on Christmas Eve, according to the Laurinburg Police Department.

Richard Little Jr., 35, of 2577 South Robeson Road in Rowland, and Jessica Maynor, 27, of 2312 Odum Road in Lumberton, were arrested and charged with felonious larceny, according to a police report. Little was also charged with first-degree trespassing and held under a $7,500 secured bond. Maynor was held under a $4,000 secured bond.

An employee at Belk’s reported the theft around 4:15 p.m. and told officers that Maynor and Little came into the department store, placed assorted clothing valued at $3,530.22 in a trash bag and walked out of the store, according to the report.

Police officers took Little and Maynor to the magistrate’s office where they were both given a court date for Friday, according to the report.

The report is not yet complete and the investigation is ongoing.
