LAURINBURG — A 13-year-old girl is being held in a juvenile detention center for conspiring along with her boyfriend to kill her mother, according to Scotland County sheriff’s Investigator Gyivan Jackson.

The girl and her boyfriend, a 15-year-old from Robeson County, have each been charged with conspiracy to commit murder, Jackson said. They were arrested Thursday and are being held in the Cumberland Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

Jackson said the girl’s mother, whom she did not want to identify, reported the two to the sheriff’s office Thursday after checking her daughter’s Facebook account, where she had found a string of messages that revealed a plan to kill her.

“The victim’s daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend had communicated on several occasions to have the mother murdered,” Jackson said.

Jackson said the investigation is ongoing. She did not want to release the method in which the two were plotting to kill the woman.
