HAMLET — Richmond Community College will host a seminar Nov. 13 that will assist business owners in understanding their legal obligations under the new health care reform act.
“Health Care Reform and Its Impact on Your Business” will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Cole Auditorium on RCC’s main campus in Hamlet. Cost to attend is $25, and lunch is provided. Registration and payment must be paid by Nov. 6 in order to receive lunch.
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law March 2010, bringing with its passage a complex mix of requirements for employers. While some business owners and human resource professionals support the overall goals of the ACA, many find themselves with new full-time jobs as they attempt to distill exactly what their obligations and responsibilities are under the new law. Mandates, penalties and options are words receiving lots of attention, and the legislation presents challenges for many employers.
Amy Smith and Tim Robinson, certified public accountants with Hughes, Pittman & Gupton will help business owners wade through these complexities and help them make sure they are in compliance with the law’s requirements. They will also address tax and financial impacts of the ACA for employers.
