Columbia tops Knights Volleyball in 3 sets

LAURINBURG — The St. Andrews University volleyball team faced a tough opponent on Tuesday evening as the Knights dropped their fourth conference game, falling in three sets to AAC foe Columbia College at Harris Court in Laurinburg.

Columbia won the first two sets by the same score of 25-13 before putting the match away for good in the third set with a 26-24 victory.

Senior middle blocker Kendelyn Wheaton led the Knights with seven kills while also contributing five total bocks, including three solo.. Wheaton is the current player of the week for SAU. Libero Nora Darrhar also had a good evening, with 10 digs and a service ace while fellow libero Sierra Barnedo also had 10 digs.

Junior Taylor Clay also had four kills and a solo block while freshman Anne Patterson had four kills and four total blocks on the night.

With the loss, St. Andrews drops to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in the AAC while Columbia improves to 4-7 overall and 4-1 in the league.

The Knights will continue their long homestand when they host Milligan College (5-10, 1-2) on Friday evening at 6:30 before hosting Virginia Intermont (5-4, 3-0) at noon and Fayetteville St. (1-2) at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
