LAURINBURG — A Laurinburg man was robbed of his cell phone at gunpoint Tuesday night outside of a Hasty Road convenience store, according to a sheriff’s report.

Joseph Clark reported that he was standing outside of Vicky’s Citgo station at around 11:30 p.m. when a man he did not know approached him, searched his pockets, and took his cellphone. When Clark confronted the robber, the man aimed a gun at him, but did not shoot.

“The victim took off his shirt to engage in a fight with him and the [man] turned around with a gun and told him he didn’t want to do that,” Sheriff Shep Jones said.

Clark was uninjured.

The robber left the store in a black late model Toyota Camry via McQueen Road. Jones said that officers searched the area but were unable to locate him.
